Each day of retreat is fully packed.
By sticking to the retreat schedule that has been passed down from ancient India and Tibet, retreatents stay focused. And busy.
Here’s what the daily schedule typically looks like:
3am: Wake up
3:15 – 5am: First meditation session. This session focuses mainly on investigating the nature of ultimate reality (emptiness). We seek to find the mistakes of mind that cause the suffering in our world.
5am – 8am: Nap
8am – 9:30am: Second meditation session. This is mainly focused on the nature of the reality that we have created and how with wisdom we can transform it into paradise, a world free of anger and even war.
9:30 – 10:30am: Breakfast
10:30 – 12:00pm: Prayers/mantras to purify your experience of the world
12:00 – 1:30pm: Yoga to refresh the body for sitting and to go deeper in meditation
1:30 – 2:30pm: Lunch
2:30 – 4:30pm: Prayers/mantras to purify your experience of the world
4:30 – 6:00pm: Third meditation session. This is a good time to focus on the inner body. Work to harness the inner flow of energy and direct it in ways that further deepen concentration, wisdom and even compassion.
6:00 – 7:00pm: Light yoga or other activity to restore the body for sitting and to go deeper in meditation.
7:00 – 8:00pm: Very light dinner
8:00 – 9:00pm: Prayers/mantras to purify your experience of the world
9:00 – 10:30pm: Final meditation session for the day. Focused on compassion and giving thanks. Remembering the kindness of others who have helped you and the key reasons for continuing your practice.
