Everything in the Three-Year Retreat is undertaken with the greatest respect for preserving and living in harmony with the environment.
The retreatants will live in small cabins, many of which have been built using low-impact methods such as strawbale and earth-bag construction. Much of the energy they use will come from passive solar heating and solar panels. Volunteers at Diamond Mountain researched and obtained county approval for composting toilets that will use very little water.
The cabins are small, ranging from 300 to 600 sf for one or two people. This is enough for a meditation and yoga practice area, a small kitchen to prepare food, a bathroom, and bed.
