Attachment & Luxury

I was surprised at the large size of your retreat cabin but not nearly so surprised as I am by your wish list. Lama Pelma, perhaps you see no benefit in living without luxury but I invite you to consider it. It may have great meaning for you. It could be a great gift!

May all sentient beings one day have hammocks and art supplies and all manner of different stoves and ovens and counters and tables and rugs and 4 sets of sheets and toilet bowl cleaner and fresh socks and camisoles that do not frequently need washing with fabric softener leaving more time to use the art supplies. May all sentient beings have shelter abundant to their needs and the needs of their children. May all sentient beings have special rooms for this or that activity and racks just for their shoes... and shoes.

Whatever you do not get, you do not need.

with metta to you,
a friend on the path

Helpful Dharma lessons for three-year retreaters...

I think that the key message in the previous comment is this one: "whatever you do not get, you do not need." If true, this is a self-solving problem. Lama Pelma will only get the things she needs for her three-year retreat, and these things will be freely given by people who trust her to use them wisely. What could be more perfect?
