How long is retreat?

After living at DM full-time for just more than 3 years, I have moved on. The retreaters are in. The land has shifted from a dynamic place of study and shorter retreats to a home of deep practice and service on a whole new level.

I had a retreat site but Lama Christie gave it to someone else a couple of years ago. What does that mean? What is in store if I'm not to be locked away this time? But I have been, in a big way, for the last three years.

I lived at DM, hopefully contributing to its service of offering the most excellent teachings and support of the practice of understanding wisdom and opening the heart, for almost the length of a Great Retreat. 3 years, 2 months. Except for study terms, we lived, about 4 of us, in semi-retreat. Time to practice, study, meditate, serve quietly. I did not live in the world.

Now circumstances have unfolded as a wandering retreat. Going back to the world in a powerful way and with challenging transitional events.

The Lama always knows exactly what the student needs in order to unfold and break out of the chrysalis. They have upped the ante. Can I practice in the world now? Will I take what they have poured into me and make some use of it? How long is a wandering retreat? It ends when everyone is enlightened. Game on.
